On the eve of my retirement

(December 2009)

Today I shed a tear…Actually they were two,
It was all too much to bear!
First it was from despair,
for I thought my role had slipped, was crushed and graved.

But just that second;
There, on the nave’s last pew, was a rubber-stamp, custom made.
I left a mark…
That was when the other tear followed
The little heart was changed
This blessing; this burden, has taught me great lessons on trust!

As I pass the baton, I need no pension for I know retirement is only formal, but deep in my heart… my work just began
